Weekday Read-a-thon: April 24th!

RebeccaReadathon

When:       April 24, 2013 (beginning 6 am to 6 am April 25)

Twitter:   #WeekdayRead

Check-ins at 2:00 pm, 9:00 pm and Midnight (EST)

Allison at The Book Wheel and I are hosting a Weekday Read-a-thon! We know that a lot of people are busy on the weekends with kids, family, studying, or work, so we want to make sure that they don’t miss out on all of the fun! This read-a-thon is a few days before the big Dewey’s 24-hour Read-a-thon, so this is a great way to get prepared if you are planning to participate in it.

This is a pretty relaxed event, so our only challenge to you is to read a bit more than you read on a normal day. If you can only squeeze in 5 extra minutes, that’s okay! We know you’re busy and want everyone and anyone to participate. We will offer a few tips and tricks to help you get through the day, as well as a couple of challenges in case the mood strikes you. And, of course, we will have a few live Twitter chats (30 minutes each) using the hashtag #WeekdayRead

But just because it’s a relaxed event doesn’t mean that we aren’t doing giveaways! We have some AMAZING things to give out, including some bookish jewelry from  Suzanne Weinerts and Designs by Venita, books, and more! We’re going to extend the giveaway entries through the weekend so that those participating in the Dewey Read-a-thon have a chance to enter. Be sure to bookmark this page for when the raffle goes live!

I hope you join us!

Full Disclosure: We planned this Read-a-thon when both of us were sans jobs, however Allison has since joined the 9-5 workforce and plan to be a shining example of how to incorporate reading into a busy, working person’s schedule.

    • Thank you! Allison and I have seen so many weekend read-a-thons that we can’t participate in because we are spending time with our husbands. We figured that the if the two of us felt that way, others probably did too! Even the busy people can fit a few more minutes of reading into their day.

      • so I just read your HP post that you left on my blog (I pinned it on pinterst too lol). I can’t believe I didn’t know they let people go on tours there! I was in London in 2011. But I guess it wasn’t open to the public then? I love all the pics. And if you’re still interest in joining the readalong it’s not too late. HP Readalong Sign Ups

        • It’s actually really a new thing. I went a year ago in May 2012, and I think it had only been open a few months. Next time you go, it’s a must!!!!

I think I’m going to skip the HP read-a-long unfortunately. Since I’m moving with my husband at this time (6 mo here, 6 mo there) all of my HP copies are at home in Florida!

  1. Count me in! This sounds like a great idea. Nowadays it seems like I run out of time to read. Your read-a-thon will be a great way for me to do more of what I love. 🙂

    • Yay!!!!! That’s the whole point, just add a few more reading minutes to your day! Unless you happen to have more free time and you can add hours. Either way, adding a few minutes helps with participation!
