This is my first year participating in Roof Beam Reader’s TBR Pile Challenge and I’m excited about it.
The rule are simple: Pick 12 books and 2 alternates that have been on your TBR list for over a year. Then, read them within 12 months & link up the reviews.
1. Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
2. A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka
3. The Paris Wife by Paula Mclain
4. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov – Book Club Part 1 & Part 2 (all discussion on book)
5. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
6. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
7. Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane
8. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
9. Riding the Bus with my Sister by Rachel Simon
10. Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson
11. A Widow For One Year by John Irving
12. Yiddish Policemen’s Union by Michael Chabon
Alternates:
1. Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden
2. Daughter’s Keeper by Ayelet Waldman – Read; will review if necessary
We have one book in common on our list – Rebecca. I’ve read The Paris Wife and liked it a lot. I listened to The Yiddish Policemen’s Union on audio. It had potential but if you don’t like long books I think you’ll struggle with this one. I don’t mind long books but I wanted to get a red pen and start editing.

I’ve read a Michael Chabon before, so I think I can get through Yiddish, although I know it’s not the easiest (which is prob why it’s been on my list for so long). Rebecca is also on my Classics Club list & The Paris Wife is a book I’m reading for Books Speak Volumes’ Jazz Age January, so I’ll be killing two birds with one stone with those two! 😀

If you aren’t home much, have children under the
age of ten, don’t enjoy chaos, or have a busy lifestyle which would prevent a ferret from roaming freely, then these pet are
not for you. Not only that, but what happens is what is supposed to happen for that ferret.
Children will love that Toffee the pony loves to be fussed over and pampered.
