In March of 2013, I was chatting with Allison @ The Book Wheel and somehow we came up with the idea for a sort of bookish bucket list, which we’re titling 50 Bookish Things You Must Do Before You Die.
Most of the list we had in common, like these 35:
- 20 DIY bookish (& sophisticated) crafts
- Participate in creating or create my own Little Free Library
- Read 50+ classics
- Visit author/book locations (homes, parks, etc.)
- Do 10 new activities inspired by books
- Go to a book blogging conference
- Have cards in 10+ countries
- Stamp 100+ books – Completed!!!
- Send/Receive 100+ PostCrossing cards

- Plan a few book-themed dates
- Have a book-themed party
- Host an in-person book club

- Make blog bookmarks
- Consistently volunteer or work at a bookstore or library
- Work a Friends of the Library sale
- Guest post for a big deal book website or magazine
- Edit a published book
- Write thank you notes to authors whose books make a difference
- Make postcards for the blog for PostCrossing
- Get 1,000 Likes on Facebook – yay!!!!!
- Get 1,000 followers on the blog
- Have a review posted/published by a national publication/website
- Be asked by Amazon to be a Vine member
- Be invited as a guest speaker for a blog/book-related conference

- Participate in online author discussions – Piper Kerman,
- Plan a trip to meet other book bloggers
- Read the top most banned books
- Participate often in BookCrossing
- Have a stamped book/leave a card in every state
- Have a stamped book in 10+ countries
- Participate in as many blogging events (Bloggiesta, read-a-thons, YoRWtFIW, etc) as I can
Then, there were some that we decided on independently. Here are my 15 individual goals:
- Make a deeper, personal connection with an author
- Read 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die
- Visit as many libraries as I can in as many cities as I can
- Read a book in another language (besides English)
- Read 10 books of poetry
- Read 20 books of short stories
- Write a children’s book
- Fill my wall of bookshelves with books
- Keep my Goodreads To Read list up to date and accurate
- Record videos of children’s books being read aloud for the internet
- Give out ALL business cards
- Volunteer more than once for Librivox
- Create my own blogging event (like Bloggiesta, read-a-thon, YoRWtFIW) – Weekday Read-a-thon with The Book Wheel
- Read 10+ graphic novels – Maus, Persepolis
- Host a book swap party

I have referred to this list twice now. I may not come up with 50 on my own but love several of yours. I have printed the list and it is up in my office. Will let you know when I post my own! In the meantime, thank you for letting me live through yours.

Aww thanks!! Feel free to take as many as you want! That’s why Allison and I have 35 that overlap, because there are some really great ones we both wanted to do. Maybe you can add a few of your own! 🙂

Im a college student with a steady part time job with decent pay. But, the downside is I have no credit history. I do have a Capital One Secured Card and been paying it off for a few months now, but that isn’t enough for me to get a car loan for the car I specifically want. No one approved me. I was wondering if anyone can suggest me how to get a car loan. I’ll be purchasing a used car from a private seller. Thanks.

Thanks, Sam! BTW there is no “late” unless you’re already dead. You always have time to create a list before you die! 🙂

OK. I’m going to read the link-ups for inspiration, cause I only have 10 on my list. When it is up to snuff, I’ll add a link! :O)

You can add it when you have 10 or 50 or 100! It took a long time to make my list, and it’s totally okay if your list isn’t 50, but smaller 😀

After coming up with ten for this week’s TTT – I love the idea of making a longer list. I’ll work on mine and then link it up. 🙂 This is such a great idea. And I love that your list is achieveable. It’s not just fantasy and for me that adds to the fun.

You’re welcome to link it up at any length, and you can always make it longer! I know my list has changed a few times, too, since I made it.
And yeah, I try to keep it realistic because I really want to try to do all of those things.
