Who am i

My name is Rebecca Scaglione and I’ve been a book lover for as long as I can remember.  I was that kid who always read ahead, checked out the maximum number of books at the library, and borrowed as many books as I could carry from friends.

I love reading gritty literary fiction, classics, and nonfiction, like The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, Packing for Mars by Mary Roach, and anything by Jamie Ford.

Home is Central Florida, and I love spending time reading on my porch or in the pool.

Besides reading, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, my husband and dog Tilly.  I’m a big fan of kayaking, and so excited that our new SUV will allow us to eventually get some kayaks of our own.

  1. I’m very new to the blog world, and appreciate your stopping by and liking my post. The book looks like a Judy Blume book…I can see the illustration in my mind of the yellow surrounding an illustration of children. Superfudge? I too have the guilty pleasure of loving the Real Housewives…and I did not like 50 Shades. However, I’ve just started reading a parody of the book called 50 Shames of Earl Grey. So far, just as funny as the real book. Congrats on your reward! I look forward to exploring your blog, the books you’ve read, and discussing them with you. LOVE bookish conversation!

    • Unfortunately, it’s not Superfudge! My mom and I did a lot of googling, and I actually still own my own childhood Superfudge copy.

I’m also newer to blogging, having just started 6 months ago. So if you need a blogging buddy to bounce ideas off of, you can email me at Rebecca@LoveAtFirstBook.com and we can chat! I have a few other book blog buddies I talk to and it helps a lot!

I’m so glad that you’ve been able to come and search my blog, and I’m sure we will have some great conversations soon!

  2. hi Rebecca,
Good for you starting a book blog. I wish you all the best in this year year with this experience. I wonder if you are interested in having my book reviewed on your blog or even just to be a beta reader that will give me feedback. I am writing my second book which I think would also be suitable for mature young adults.
It is called Losing Dad, Finding Dad and you can read more on its website http://www.LosingDadFindingDad.com

    • I would love to read your book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for linking the website, as it helped me to make a decision!

I have a Kindle e-reader. If you have the book in a mobi file, you can send it to my email rebecca@loveatfirstbook.com

If it will be sent to a Kindle account, then email me, and we can communicate privately about it, so that I can give you my personal email that the Amazon account in linked to without giving it to the entire internet world. 🙂

      Happy New Year!

  3. What year would that picture have been taken? I was just trying to figure out if it is possibly a book from my own childhood or if this more recent. Things like this drive me nuts! I would love to figure out what book this is

  5. Aww the pup is too cute! I usually have one of mine on the pillow behind my head and other curled up next to my right leg (my left leg is against the couch). There’s nothing quite like reading with pups.

  7. Hi,

Really happy that I came across your blog – I fell in love with books at first sight as well and I’m also a total blogging virgin – just started yesterday! Any tips?
