On Saturday, Shannon @ River City Reading came to my area of Virginia so we could meet at a library book sale. We scrounged through the mass of people and books to find some great hidden gems! Everything we could fit into a brown paper bag was ours for $5.
Shannon’s book stash:
And my book picks:
The 5 old-looking books on the left are going to be used for craft purposes.
Then I grabbed 8 (mostly nonfiction) for actual reading:
- The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom – I’ve read it but the copy is in great condition so I picked it up
- The World’s Best Kept Beauty Secrets – doubt it, but maybe I’ll pick up one or two randoms
- The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion – I’ve heard good things
- Share This! – About social media
- Kaffir Boy – If I’m not mistaken, this is on the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die list
- The World is Flat – For my husband but apparently we already have a copy in FL
- Hot, Flat, and Crowded – Now this one is right up my alley because it’s about how we have to go green to be able to survive
- This Book is Overdue – About librarians and cybrarians (whatever that means), so I thought it might be interesting
Then two books for others: Skinny Bitch is one I think is so valuable and since I have a copy for myself, I picked one up for my sister. Stolen Lives: 20 Years in a Desert Jail is one I’ve been telling my friend Rachel to read for months. So now she has no excuse since I picked this copy up for her. It’s also on Oprah’s Book Club list, and it’s a fascinating story.
When I got home, I randomly checked to see if any of my books were signed, because you know, it happens. And guess what! My Mitch Albom book was signed! Score!
Shannon and I went to Caribou Coffee so we could have a little book blogger bonding time. It was fabulous! I can’t wait to see her again around Thanksgiving, when we also will probably get to meet Leah @ Books Speak Volumes!!!

And now. . . on to my 365 Project! I do have to mention that it’s been tough to keep up with as I’m closing in on the end of my 365 days. I need to do a better job of taking a picture a day, especially when I have less than 50 days left!
Day 301 – Cute chinchilla at PetCo
Day 302 – Tilly passed out, enjoying the bed
Day 303 – A beautiful fall day
Day 304 – My neighbor Sarah (Redskins player) & I (FSU fan) on Halloween
Day 305 – Tilly supporting one of the best college football teams in the country!
Day 307 – Google hanging with Allison @ The Book Wheel
Day 308 – Tilly trying to get the squeaky snake away from me. She thinks she’s stronger!
Day 310 – A deer in the twilight
Day 311 – Made the blog planning video for my blog planner printables post!
Day 312 – Quick side trip to the library
Day 313 – Met Shannon from River City Reading and attended the fab book sale
So, how was your week? Reading anything good?
